Crafted in Puebla, Mexico, Ancho Reyes Original is a chili liqueur rooted in generations of tradition. The chiles are grown in fertile volcanic soil, nurtured for nine months, then hand-harvested once they mature to a deep red. After harvest, they are sun-dried for up to twenty days, transforming fresh vegetal notes into rich flavors reminiscent of cacao and warm spices. Each chile is hand-selected and scissor-sliced before resting for six months in small vats of neutral cane spirit from Veracruz. After maceration, the Maestra Maceradora blends each batch by hand, allowing the flavors to settle and harmonize before bottling. The result is a spirit that carries the heart of Puebla’s land, labor, and long history of chile craftsmanship.

Tasting Notes

Smoky and warm with rich layers of dried chili, cacao, cinnamon, almond, roasted fruit, and gentle sweetness. The spice builds slowly, creating a lingering glow rather than sharp heat.

How to Enjoy

Sip neat or over ice. Add depth to Margaritas in place of orange liqueur. Stir into Old Fashioneds or Daiquiris for a smoky twist. Mix with tequila, mezcal, rum, whiskey, or vodka to add warmth and complexity.

Fun Fact

The volcanic soil where the chiles grow rests for three full years after each harvest, allowing the land to recover before the next crop is planted. This slow agricultural rhythm is one of the secrets behind the intense flavor of Ancho Reyes.
